A Month of Firsts

As I write this blog post, I am in Orlando, waiting for the start of my first Florida Writers Association annual convention, WritersCon 2022. Tonight, in front of a couple hundred industry professionals and authors, I will read an excerpt of Terror’s Sword for the first time.

In fact, October has been a month of firsts for me. At the beginning of the month, my wife and I weathered our first hurricane, Ian; we were blessed to experience only minimal damage.

Just before Ian‘s arrival, I learned that Terror’s Sword had become an Amazon #1 Bestseller in multiple thriller categories. Within minutes of receiving that terrific news, we lost power and were incommunicado for several days. As it turned out, my novel spent 5 days as a #1 Bestseller in several categories, including: Espionage thriller; Action thriller; and Political and Suspense thriller.

On October 15, I participated in my first bookstore author event, sponsored by Bookstore1Sarasota. On the 25th, I was advised by the store’s program director that Terror’s Sword had catapulted to #2 on their bestsellers list. The store’s list encompasses the sale of books across every genre written by international, award-winning authors, with whom we are all familiar.

Thanks to everyone who helped me achieve these firsts! I hope future months hold several “first accomplishments” on the order of October’s — with the exception of hurricanes!
